After a 4 years period spent as an Officier in the Italian Navy, I obtained my degree in nuclear physics at University of Pavia (Italy) discussing the thesis "Classifications of muons in a hadronic calorimeter through neural networks" (experiment E687, Fermilab). I began my career as a protein crystallographer at the National Institute for Cancer Research (IST) in 1995. In 1999 I obtained a permanent position as researcher. I solved several protein structures through X-ray Crystallography and I am co-author of more than 35 scientific publications on peer-reviewed journals. My present interests are focused on the structure determination of tyrosine kinases and other relevant oncological targets, as well as on the combination of low resolution and high resolution methods to determine the structure of large macromolecular complexes and in the study of new drug delivery systems in oncology.
