We apologize for Proteopedia being slow to respond. For the past two years, a new implementation of Proteopedia has been being built. Soon, it will replace this 18-year old system. All existing content will be moved to the new system at a date that will be announced here.

I am Professor of Microbiology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland UK. My research interests are in the mechanisms of adaptation in bacteria with specific interests in the roles of ion channels and regulated transporters in ionic homeostasis. Our approaches combine molecular genetics with physiology and mathematical modelling. Through excellent collaborations we have access to structural biology and this has resulted in a number of structures of proteins or domains that are central players in ionic homeostasis in E. coli.
