Originally from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Leah graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Biology and Honors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She completed her undergraduate thesis with Andrea Mastro, Ph.D studying the inflammatory stress response caused by bone metastatic breast cancer cells and subsequent activation of NF-kappaB in osteoblasts. Leah is now an MD/PhD candidate at UVM studying the humoral response to breast cancer using phage display methods in the laboratory of David Krag, MD, FACS. She plans a career in translational research and hopes to specialize in medical oncology. When she's not in the lab, Leah enjoys running, skiing, and mountain biking.
