M.J. Costa (Ph.D., Biochemistry, U. Minho, Braga, Portugal) is an assistant professor who coordinates the Unit of Medical Education at the School of Health Sciences. He has a long standing interest in science education, is on the editorial panel for the panel of editors of Biochemical and Molecular Biology Education (BAMBED) of the Digital Library of Educational Technology Laboratory at the University of Campinas (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and BioQuest Library. He has been the author or co-author of articles on education published in international journals, participates regularly at international conferences and is a member of the Education Commission of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). He has recently been appointed as the Co-Ordinator of a Sub-Committee that has been set up by The International Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) to prepare a document that sets international “undergraduate standards” in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (B&MB).
