Marcius S. Almeida (Almeida M.S.) is a biochemistry professor and structural biology researcher at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (“Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro” - UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. Marcius works with structure and function of proteins, with emphasis on structural characterization by nuclear magnetic resonance and other spectroscopic techniques, such as fluorescence and circular dichroism. He is a pharmacist, with a PhD in biological chemistry at the Medical Biochemistry Institute of UFRJ (“Instituto de Bioquímica Médica” – IBqM), and Pos-doctorate at the National Center for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Jiri Jonnas (“Centro Nacional de Ressonância Magnética Nuclear” – CNRMN), UFRJ, and The Scripps Research Institute, California, both in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance of proteins.
