I am Pankaj Barah, from India. I have strong background and interest in Computational Biology, Structural Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Systems Biology, and Biophysics.Presently I am working as a Research fellow in Mathematical Modelling & Computational Biology Group, Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India under the guidance of Dr. Somdatta Sinha. Here my work is basically to understand complex Biological systems using computational and mathematical techniques. I am trying to address the question of fold recognition, protein-protein interaction networks, protein folding, and macro molecular evolutionary dynamics, using coarse grained protein contact networks and other structural bioinformatics techniques.

Before joining here, I have worked as a Junior Research Fellow in Bioinformatics centre, University of Pune, in a Centre of Excellence Fellowship program, Govt. of India. As a part of my M.Sc curriculum I have acquired knowledge of advanced basic wet-lab techniques; as well as computational skill including programming.

I have completed my summer training and M.Sc. thesis in Computational Biology Laboratory, National centre for Biological Sciences -NCBS (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) under the guidance of Dr. R. Sowdhamini (Computational approaches to protein science). I have worked in Jalaja Technology Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore in a software development project (Proteome calculator) having technical collaborations with Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, CSIR, Govt. of India (under NMITLI project). I have already published 3 (BMC Structural Biology, PLoS One, Pramana:Journal of Physics) international research articles from the above mentioned works.
