I am a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). I am a molecular geneticist but I use 3-dimensional models to inform much of my work. Our research interest is in the accuracy of protein synthesis so we make use of the available structure of prokaryotic ribosomes quite frequently. I also teach courses in Molecular Genetics at the advanced undergraduate/graduate level and Genetics for sophomores. In these courses I make extensive use of structures.
