From Proteopedia
Robbie Joosten (1981, Brunssum, the Netherlands) is a Postdoc in Dr. Tassos Perrakis' group at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, working on the automation of protein structure model (re)building, refinement, and validation. He studied 'Natuurwetenschappen' (general science) at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He received his master's degree in 2005 after internships with Prof. Dr. Gert Vriend (Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics, Radboud University, Nijmegen), Dr. Tom Garrett & Prof. Dr. Peter Colman (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Melbourne, Australiƫ) and Prof. Dr. Geerten Vuister (biophysical chemistry department, Radboud Universiteit) on several aspects of protein structure refinement and validation. Robbie's PhD research with at Gert Vriend's lab focused on protein structure validation and automated re-refinement of existing protein structure models. This resulted in the PDB_REDO databank of optimised structure models (www.cmbi.ru.nl/pdb_redo). Robbie received his doctorate in 2010. Robbie is a member of the PDB's Validation Task Force.
During his PhD Robbie co-developed a bioinformatics eduction project for high-school students. See www.bioinformaticsatschool.eu for more information.
