Complex Between Nucleosome Core Particle and 146 BP Long DNA Fragment
Structure
1aoi is a complex that connects the nucleosome core particle and DNA fragment. It is considered a heterodecamer (10 chains). It has 5 macromolecules: 4 histones and 1 palindromic 146 bp DNA repeat from the human X chromosome. The 4 histones are H2B,H4,H2A,H3. Nucleosomes are subunits of chromosomes. They are formed when the DNA wraps around the histones, resembling tiny “beads” all throughout the compact chromatin.

There are 6 manganese shown in green.
Function
The complex is a core nucleosome. The protein acts as a transcription regulator, repairs DNA, helps with DNA replication and chromosome remodeling.
