[4] In addition, a new hepatocerebral mtDNA depletion syndrome caused by TFAM deficiency is presented in the literature. The disease is characterized due to liver failure from neonatal onset progressing to death. Liver pathology revealed cirrhosis, steatosis, cholestasis and mitochondrial changes.
