Ribosomal protein S2

Ribosomal protein S2 (RPS2) is one of the 22 proteins which belong to the of the bacterial ribosome. Its N-terminal is rich in Arg-Gly repeats and has two RGGF copies which are believed to be associated with nuclear localization and binding to RNA. In archaea the protein is called S2P (RPS2P). The images at the left and at the right correspond to one representative RPS2, i.e. the crystal structure of Ribosomal protein S2 from Escherichia coli (3kc4).
