Raptor (Rap) or Regulatory-Associated Protein of TOR 1 binds mTOR which controls cell growth, p70 S6 kinase α (S6K1) and the the initiation factor 4E binding protein 1 (4EBP1). The binding of Rap to mTOR is necessary for the mTOR-catayzed phosphorylation of the initiation factor binding protein
