We apologize for Proteopedia being slow to respond. For the past two years, a new implementation of Proteopedia has been being built. Soon, it will replace this 18-year old system. All existing content will be moved to the new system at a date that will be announced here.
Troponin
From Proteopedia
Troponin (Tn) is a regulatory protein in muscle contraction. It contains 3 subunits:
- TnC causes conformational change in TnI when it binds to calcium ions. For more details on TnC see Role of Troponin C in decreased muscle sensitivity to calcium.
- TnT binds to tropomyosin.
- TnI binds to actin which is found in thin muscle filaments.
See additional details in Human Cardiac Troponin C.
